Figueres & Dalí Theatre and Museum

We went for a day to Figueres, home to the world famous Dalí Theatre and Museum. The city centre is quite nice with a couple of medieval buildings, narrow streets and a charming pedestrian Rambla. The museum on the other hand is one of a kind. It is a feast to the senses and as soon as you step in you become a child again. Surreal sculptures dominate the main façade while huge golden eggs sit over the lateral red building. Bizarre sculptures and paintings can be seen everywhere. Even the smallest details were designed by Dalí. Many of the showpieces move or change appearance as the viewer moves. The museum culminates at the impressive Mae West room whose face only appears if you look at it through the small lens. We completed our luxuriant visit with a fancy Dali jewelry exposition. To get there and come back to Barcelona in just under an hour we took the ultra fancy fast speed AVE train.
