We planned our Siberian route in order to attend the famous TBEX Travel Conference in Stockholm. That proved to be a great idea! Advertised as Scandinavia’s capital it is arguably its nicest city. But it surely can’t compare to the major cities of Central and Southern Europe, at least when it comes to architecture. The charming medieval district is in the small, centrally located island, Gamla Stan. To the North, the modern city centre wraps around an unfortunately refurbished area from the 60s. The place is packed with franchise shops and restaurants selling well that, franchise stuff and food. Quite different to the latter, the coastal area is lined with elegant palaces, creating an imposing waterfront. Luckily there is so much more than that. The city itself lies on 14 of the more than 24,000 islands that make up Stockholm archipelago, truly unique and splendid. Thanks to Visit Stockholm we were able to explore this natural wonder. Photos coming soon!
