Ibiza Town – The Best Place to Stay in Ibiza
Ibiza Town is the capital of the island and the most populated city. However, with a population of 50,000 people, it offers both city life and peace. Thus, the accommodation in Ibiza Town caters to all. We have divided the city into four: the Old Town, Talamanca Beach, Figueretes Beach, and D’en Bossa Beach. Take note that administratively speaking, D’en Bossa is not within Ibiza Town. This lovely beach is just a stroll away to the south, and locals consider it part of the city.
Ibiza Old Town – The Best Place to Stay in Ibiza for Couples
The best place to stay in Ibiza for couples is the Old Town. We are talking about the impressive neighborhood over the hill in the center of the city. That’s why locals refer to it as Dalt Villa, the upper town in Catalan. You will recognize it from its UNESCO-listed 16th century fortress. Get lost amongst its ancient streets with your significant other, and you will understand why so many of us love it! The views are splendid, and the atmosphere quaint. The hotels in Ibiza town we have selected for you are ‘one of a kind’ historic buildings. You can’t ask for anything more.
Mirador de Dalt Vila-Relais & Chateaux
To us, this is the best hotel in Ibiza Old Town. The location is unbeatable, on the hilltop just at the edge of the cliff. Thus, the name: lookout. The views are simply stunning, and the rooms are elegant and super comfortable. The hotel took over a meticulously refurbished 19th century lord’s manor. You get the sophisticated service of Relais Chateaux plus the best views in Ibiza.
Hotel La Torre del Canonigo
Once again, superb location and unforgettable views in the heart of the Old Town. The hotel sits on the grounds of the former Roman Acropolis. Everything is luxurious and elegant, including the fantastic pool. The list of famous guests that stayed at this hotel includes Grace Kelly, Salvador Dali, and Pink Floyd. Yes, it is that cool!
The hotels in Talamanca beach in Ibiza we have selected are on a splendid beach just a step away from the Old Town. Hence, you get the best of both worlds: beach and architecture. The beach is long, sandy, and quite relaxed. Take note that Talamanca has two distinct areas. The closest to the Old Town is Marina Ibiza, with no beach. Several hotels and restaurants line the Passeig Juan Carlos I but offer no beach. We are convinced that it is much better to stay on the beach.
Hotel Argos Ibiza
We believe this is the best hotel in Talamanca Beach, Ibiza. It’s the first hotel to the south of the beach, so you can walk absolutely everywhere. It’s a big hotel, with all modern-day conveniences, including two pools. The rooms are big and come with a balcony. The hotel is directly on the beach and has its own private lounges and umbrellas. Book a room with sea views to enjoy Ibiza with your significant other or others.
Hotel Simbad Ibiza & Spa
This hotel is in the northern tip of the beach. In fact, it’s the last one directly on the beach close to the mirador, Cala Roja, and the world-famous Pacha Dance Club. Yes, the hotel is a little piece of heaven in the middle of all the action. The hotel has a large pool overlooking the sea. The beach is directly in front, so rooms offering stunning bay views are the best. We love the spa, perfect to chill after a night of partying.
The best hotels in Ibiza Town are the ones in Figueretes, the center of Ibiza. This is an urban beach below the Old Town, and within walking distance to the entire city. Therefore, you can visit the UNESCO-listed fortress, eat at a fancy restaurant on the marina, chill on the beach, dip in the sea, and dance the night away clubbing on the same day, and walking. Since we don’t like to drive, we usually stay here when visiting Ibiza.
THB Los Molinos Adults Only
To us, this is one of the best hotels in Figueretes, and in Ibiza Town. The location couldn’t be better, beneath the fortress, next to the sea, and steps away from the beach. Los Molinos has a splendid garden with two pools overlooking the sea. Rooms are big and have balconies. This is an adults-only hotel, perfect for couples. The spa has an indoor pool, sauna, Jacuzzi, and a gym.
Hotel MiM Ibiza Es Vive – Adults Only
This Art Deco hotel is famous in Ibiza due to its superb sky bar overlooking the sea. Take note that the hotel is just one block from the beach. However, the pool is pretty cool and ideal to chill listening to music while enjoying cocktails. The vibe here is very Ibiza! Rooms are big and have all modern-day conveniences. It was fully revamped by the world-renowned interior designer Sean Cochrane.
As mentioned above, D’en Bossa is not technically within Ibiza City. Nevertheless, it’s super close and locals consider it part of the city. Hotels in playa den Bossa are amongst the most popular on the island. The best party hotels in Ibiza are here too. That said, the beach is lovely and peaceful. The place lights up at night with incredible roof terraces to enjoy a quiet night out or some of the best dancing on earth. Take note that there are frequent public buses that take you to and back from the Old Town in minutes.
Torre del Mar Hotel
This superb hotel is directly on the beach, at the northern tip of the beach. Therefore, it is within walking distance of the city. Torre del Mar is a big modern hotel with all you ever dreamed of. The pool is stunning, and the spa overlooking the sea is one of the best on the island. Though it doesn’t have a nightclub onsite, due to its atmosphere this is one of the best party hotels in Ibiza.
Ushuaia Ibiza Beach Hotel – Adults Only
If you want the full Ibiza club experience you have to book a room here. The Ushuaia Ibiza Beach Hotel was created for the party reveler. It is all about music, comfort, socializing, and partying 24/7. The pool area is one of the best clubs in the city, with an incredible lineup of DJs. The hotel has two sections. The Ushuaia Club is the one with the club. Choose the Tower for a quiet stay. Several pools, a luxurious spa, and 5 restaurants complete the feast.
Santa Eulalia – Where to Stay in Ibiza with Family
The best place where to stay in Ibiza with your family will be determined by the age of your kids. It is not the same to travel with kids as with teenagers. If you have small kids, a nice hotel with enough space and facilities is all you need. However, if you have older kids you need to pay attention to their needs. Some of the best 5 stars family hotels in Ibiza are in Santa Eulalia, a lovely city north of the capital. The city hosts a long sandy beach and a nice old town with a 16th-century church.
Hotel Riomar, Ibiza, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel
The Hotel Riomar is where the river meets the sea. Thus, it offers incredible views. It’s a Tribute Portfolio Hotel, one of the fancy brands by Marriot. Therefore, the rooms have all you need to have a great time. The hotel has a fantastic pool and direct access to the beach. There is a bar and a super cool lounge with a DJ. You will have a blast with your small children here.
TUI Magic Life Cala Pada
This huge all-inclusive resort excels in entertainment programs and activities. Kids can go on their own to a special area just for them. Older kids even have a supervised disco and DJ classes! There are sports activities for the entire family to have fun together. The Magic Life Club is just a short stroll away from the beach and has a massive pool and a gym. Guests can use the hotel’s app to book meals at any of the 3 restaurants.
San Antonio – Best Place to Stay in Ibiza for Partying
The best place to stay in Ibiza for partying is San Antonio. The small seaside town conquered the world with its endless parties, chic bars, and fun hotels. Whatever you’ve heard about San Antonio is probably true. From crazy out-of-control parties to fancy dinners and chill out lounges, you will find it all here. Besides, there are very nice beaches too. So you can party as much as you want and recover on the beach. What else could you possibly ask for?
Palladium Hotel Palmyra Adults Only
Adult only hotels in Ibiza are all the rage. The Palladium Hotel Palmyra is the best in San Antonio. Located in the heart of the town, next to the mythical Es Paradis and Ocean discos, the beach is literally in front. They have plenty of sunbeds around the pool, night entertainment, books, and a very relaxed atmosphere. The food is super good and the service impeccable. A total must!
Hotel Gran Sol
This is a simple 3-star hotel loved by guests. It’s a tower in the center of town, yet very peaceful. Rooms are comfy and come with a big balcony, some with sea views. The hotel has a big pool, free parking, and a restaurant. The beach is within walking distance. You can walk everywhere and get the best of both worlds: parties and beaches!
Best Areas to Stay in Ibiza for Beaches
Cala Tarida is one of the prettiest beaches in the east of the island. Cala means cove in Spanish, so expect a lovely secluded beach. It’s a serviced beach with bars, sunbeds, umbrellas, and restaurants. What we love about Cala Tarida are their environmental practices. They provide paper and bamboo degradable utensils and loads of bins. The beach is very relaxed, favored by both couples and families too.
Hotel Playasol Cala Tarida
The Hotel Playasol Cala Tarida was refurbished a couple of years ago and looks amazing! The rooms have all modern-day conveniences, including balconies with views. You have 3 pools to choose from, and the beach is just 100m away. They have evening shows and can arrange tours and activities.
Insotel Tarida Playa
This is a 4-star hotel oriented to families. Actually, they have large apartments with sea views and a kitchen. They also have a kid entertainment program, including a fun club. Since adults also like to have fun, they have daily activities such as yoga, water polo, tennis, classes, and evening shows. The place is big and steps away from the beach.
Portinatx has some of the best beaches in northern Ibiza. Since this former fishing village is a bit isolated, it has retained its character. There are no regular bus services to Portinatx, just one or two a day. Perhaps that’s why we love Portinatx. You set foot on the beach and forget about everything. You will have everything you need, some of the best places to stay in Ibiza, delicious food, blue crystalline waters, sandy beaches, and loads of peace.
Portinatx is the best area to stay in Ibiza for beaches. Barceló Portinatx, adults only hotel on the beach has two splendid pools and breathtaking views. The Barceló is at the end of a road, so it’s very quiet. However, it’s within walking distance of top-rated restaurants. Expect comfortable rooms with large terraces, areas to chill, and professional service.
Sandos El Greco Beach
Another great beachfront hotel in Portinatx with modern-day facilities, a huge pool, and several restaurants to choose from. The rooms are big and offer direct sea views. The Sandos is also one of the best adult only hotels in Ibiza. They have a splendid hot tub overlooking the sea, a sauna, gym, and loads of activities, including some very popular cooking classes. The atmosphere is relaxed and easygoing.
Where to Stay in Ibiza for Peace and Quiet
If you think that Ibiza is all about beaches and parties, you are wrong. To some of us, Ibiza excels in rural hotels that offer peace and class. Therefore, we always stay in Santa Gertrudis de Fruitera, the best place where to stay in Ibiza if you prefer a quiet setting. Santa Gertrudis is a quaint little village in the heart of the island. Home to artists from all over the world, the town boasts a historic church, ancient trees, lovely old houses, and contemporary architecture. The valley, the air, the blue skies, and the authentic Ibiza spirit are the main draws of Santa Gertrudis. Let’s not forget some of the best restaurants on the island.
Finca The Yard
One of the best rural hotels in Ibiza, The Yard is as classy and as subtle as it gets. Rooms are set in an old mansion and come with all modern-day conveniences. The manicured gardens provide a perfect place to relax. The pool is cool too. However, what sets Finca The Yard apart is the service: professional, personalized, and unforgettable.
Gatzara Suites Santa Gertrudis
The Gatzara is a luxury hotel in the middle of Santa Gertrudis. It’s a small building with a rooftop pool offering unforgettable views. There is a lot of space to chill all around. Each room has at least one balcony, some even two. Everything is spotless and classy. The staff knows Santa Gertrudis and the entire island by heart and will be more than happy to arrange for all your needs. Their massages and spa treatments are brilliant.
How to Get to Ibiza
As you probably know, there are flights to Ibiza from almost all major European cities. From Barcelona, Madrid, Valencia and Mallorca, there are countless flights, especially in summer. However, to us, the best way to get to the Balearic Islands (Ibiza or Mallorca) is by ferry from either Valencia or Barcelona. You get to spend some time in two of the best cities in Spain. Additionally, the trip is an attraction in itself and so much fun. We always use Ferryhopper to check prices and buy our ferry tickets across the Mediterranean. They’ve got the best routes and prices!
